The Prison Rape Elimination Act, commonly known as PREA, was established to help prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and sexual harassment in confinement facilities. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all individuals in custody.
The Sheriff’s Office maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual abuse and sexual harassment of inmates, detainees, and residents. All allegations are taken seriously and are reviewed, investigated, and addressed according to applicable policy and law.
